“We no longer have to estimate the weight of a load by eye. Now we can see them directly on the machine and create loads of the correct size,” says Mika Kalliokoski, CEO of Suomen Maa-autot Oy.

“If the customer wants smaller loads, no problem. If they want to maximize loads, we can do that too—responsibly and in a controlled way.”

The partnership enables cooperative development

The cooperation between Suomen Maa-autot Oy and Tamtron dates back to the early 2000s. The company also uses Tamtron wheel loader scales, and previously also had vehicle scales in its fleet. Extensive experience with Tamtron products has led to strong confidence in our functionality and service.

“We haven’t even considered trying anything else. Tamtron’s solutions work, spare parts are easy to get, and the service is professional,” says Kalliokoski.

Suomen Maa-autot was involved in the development phase of the excavator scales. The devices were installed for testing in a real working environment before their official release, and the user experiences were utilized in the further development of the device.

“It was great to be involved in the development work. Through us, the scales were immediately put into actual use, and all the initial issues were handled in good cooperation. There were a few minor technical adjustments, but they were quickly resolved together, and now the system works perfectly.”

Confidence in the solution and multi-directional cooperation were also evident, when at the initiative of Suomen Maa-autot Oy, Tamtron’s Excavator Scales were also installed on excavators leased from Hitachi. This allowed the benefits of the scales to be utilized in temporary equipment as well.

Excavator scales offer accuracy without extra worries

 

Tamtron’s excavator scales are currently in use on three machines owned by Suomen Maa-autot Oy. The devices have proven to be a reliable and practical part of daily work. The company regularly checks the scales’ functionality on its own.

“We don’t need legal for trade scales because we don’t sell soil by the ton or bill customers directly based on weighing results. We use the scales to manage our own operations and ensure the quality of our work,” Kalliokoski explains.

“We have a very good package. The equipment works, the service is good, and issues are dealt with promptly. We can rely on the quality and Finnish origin of the products, which means a lot to us,” Kalliokoski sums up.
